IAS 2011 exam important dates

2011 February 19: Date of notification
2011 February 21: Applications invited
2011 March 21: Last date for the receipt of applications
2011 June 12: Preliminary examination
2011 October 29: Final Examination

FORMAT OF PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

1. It is not based on an optional subject
2. Two papers for 200 marks each, 2 hours each
3. All round performance is counted
4. General Knowledge and Current Affairs are must and important

FIRST PAPER [PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION 2011]
CONSISTS OF QUESTIONS FROM

1. Current affairs of National and International importance
2. History of India and India's struggle for independence
3. Geography
4. Civics
    * Constituition of India, Panchayathi Raj
    * Important laws, bills and amendments [eg: Women's reservation bill]
    * Fundamental rights and duties
    * Politics and foreign policies
5. Economics
6. Society and development
   * What are the measures adopted by the goverment for poverty reduction, rural development
     and human welfare
7. Environmental issues
8. Biodiversity
9. Climate, ecosystem and forests
10. General science


SECOND PAPER [PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION 2011]
CONSISTS OF QUESTIONS FROM
MENTAL/REASONING ABILITY where the following areas are important.


1. Comprehension
2. Communication skills
3. Intelligent thinking
4. Decision making skils

TIPS | THINGS TO BE REMEMBERED

1. According to the new pattern, specialisation of a particular subject would not help.
   Deep knowledge of every subject is must.
2. Since general knowledge and current affairs is a must,

3. English grammar is very important.
